Shams-ud-din Mohammad Hafiz Shirazi (known to the world as simply Hafiz) was a mystical poet and philosopher in 14th- century Iran (approximately 1320 to 1389).
Pehaps more than any other Persian poet, Hafiz accesses the mystical, healing dimensions of poetry. Because his poems were often ecstatic love songs from God to his beloved world, many have called Hafiz the "Invisible Tongue."
